Inattentive ADHD is one of three DSM-5 presentations of ADHD. It features distractibility, difficulty sustaining attention, disorganisation, losing items and forgetfulness, without prominent hyperactivity. Because it lacks disruptive behaviour, it is frequently missed in childhood, particularly in girls.
Many adults seek assessment after years of being labelled dreamy or careless. Diagnosis follows the same DSM-5 criteria as other presentations, and treatment planning reflects the symptom profile, which often centres on focus, planning and working memory.
