eScript (Electronic Prescription)

An eScript, or electronic prescription, is a digital version of a paper prescription. After a consultation, the prescriber sends a secure token to the patient by SMS or email as a QR code, which any Australian pharmacy scans to dispense the medicine.

eScripts are now standard across Australia and pair naturally with telehealth: a patient can finish an online GP consultation and have the script on their phone within minutes, then choose local pickup or a delivery pharmacy.
