ADHD Assessment

An ADHD assessment is a structured clinical evaluation that measures attention, impulsivity and hyperactivity symptoms against DSM-5 criteria. It usually includes a detailed personal history, validated symptom questionnaires and a clinical interview, and may draw on reports from family members or teachers.

In Australia, assessment has traditionally required long waits for a psychiatrist appointment. A telehealth pathway lets an AHPRA registered doctor complete the initial assessment online and provide a fast tracked psychiatrist referral where clinically indicated.
